| When we set out
to develop the Stralis XT, the main goal was having a plane
which presented "big", but at the same time keeping the weight
low, so as to have a ballistic performance with a 91 sized glow
engine. While most of the other profiles in this size range
featured a 55~56 inch wingspan, we pushed the envelope and went
with a 61" span. And to keep it manageable and easily
transportable in most cars, the wings are removable and split in
two halves. The system for attaching them to the fuse is both
simple and robust.
During the design stages, the target weight was kept at 6 lbs or
less. The first prototype came in at exact 6 lbs with a Saito
100, guaranteeing awesome performance. Then, when the second
prototype came in at 5.5 lbs with an OS 91 4 stroker we knew we
had a winning design in hands.
The wing features a higher aspect
ratio, giving this model a very distinctive look. The generous
fuselage side area coupled with the large rudder provides for a
very forgiving KE capability. Coupling is almost non-existent,
and the immense rudder power ensures positive control throughout
all attitudes. And it's not only the rudder who has
immense power, all control surfaces also do! This is a very
capable machine!
At the same time this plane
will perform any manoeuvre you can come up with, it is also rock
solid stable in "normal" flight. With small control throws, this
is one very docile and relaxing plane. Crank up the throws to
the max you can get (up to 75 degrees on the elevator!!) and you
got a true "radical" 3D machine!
The kits includes all the wood
you need to get it ready to cover, plus full size plans, a
wealth of laser and CNC router cut parts, high quality AAA Balsa
and plywood, wing tubes plus phenolic sleeves, LG gear, full
size plans, all carbon fiber reinforcements necessary, CNC cut
foam core for the fuselage, amongst other minor parts.
The first batch has already
been manufactured in the USA and is ready for shipping. Please
